Since Mr. Mwathi is fluent in English and Kiswahili (one of the languages spoken by the Burundian children), he initiated a tutoring group in February 2011 that focused on teaching AHSGE material. With great patience and encouragement, Mr. Mwathi explained various concepts in Mathematics, Science and English to the students in both English and Kiswahili. In May 2013, 10 out of the 12 students who had enrolled in his program graduated with a regular high school diploma. Mr. Mwathi continued with the program and in 2014, all the seniors graduated with regular high school diplomas.”
