KERRON DIXON “…believes that teaching is a gift. Kerron Dixon feels like it’s something she’s been ordained to do. It’s a position that she takes seriously simply because it involves shaping our future. Each year she likes to provide a nurturing environment for her Kindergarten students. She has developed a simple class motto that has transcended through the years with her students. Her motto states to be “Loving, caring and sharing towards everyone you meet.” It is a rewarding feeling for her when she welcomes a Kindergarten child into her class on their very first day of school. She always looks into their eyes and introduces herself as their new teacher. At that particular moment, she is taking a prominent stance that she will be the one to impart lifelong knowledge into that student. She has a charge to allow each individual student to develop physically, emotionally, socially and most important academically.” |

![]() FELICE HOWARD Theodore High School “Felice has been a phenomenal teacher for more than 22 years, beginning as a student teacher at Alba and later at Leflore High School. Like most teachers, Felice is extremely dedicated to the children and her profession and is totally invested in the progression of both. She gives unselfishly; not only other time and attention but also spends her own money to make sure the students have what they need to succeed. She is more than a teacher; she is both friend and mentor to numerous children who have a less than stellar home situation. While out and about with Felice, it is a rare occasion for us not to encounter former students. Invariably, they all want to introduce her to their families and friends as “their favorite teacher” and tell us all the stories of how she has been such an inspiration. The best thing that I can say about her is that she is a phenomenal WOMAN and being an educator is just one of the many facets of an extremely busy life that she handles with poise and grace.” Nominated by Melvin Howard |
