Hurricane Idalia made landfall in Florida’s ‘Big Bend’ region on Wednesday 8/30/2023.
The Category 3 storm brought winds of up to 125 mph to the Gulf Coast, making it the strongest storm to hit the region in 125 years.
The storm immediately flooded roads and bridges, and knocked out power to more than 230,000 people.
It weakened to a Category 2 storm roughly an hour and a half after making landfall.
