Eazy-E will get a street in Compton, the city he grew up in, named after him.
The City of Compton plans to rename Auto Plaza Drive South after the N.W.A and Ruthless Records founder.
Compton’s senator, assemblyman, mayor, county supervisor and city council members were among those who voted unanimously to bring “Eazy Street” to life.
Lil Eazy-E, Eazy’s son, is set to perform with N.W.A’s DJ Yella of NWA in addition to Compton native DJ Joe Cooley of Rodney O and Joe Cooley.
About the honor, Lil Eazy-E said “To hear our father Eric ‘Eazy-E’ Wright is being honored during the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop, it’s a testament to his impact and legacy in the genre.”
He continues, saying the street naming, “ensures that our father has a legacy that will be remembered and celebrated for generations to come.”
A commemorative event celebrating the renaming will be held on November 22nd from noon to 3 pm PT and is open to the public.
