During Tony Yayo’s appearance on The Drink Champs last year, he shared why he believes that Biggie was a better storyteller than Ice Cube, and now he is doubling down on his opinion.
He said, “Listen, Ice Cube is a[n] idol of mine—he’s a genius. He got movies, he has the Victory League; he’s a f**kin’ genius. I don’t have nothing against him. […] You know what’s cool about the debate on Drink Champs? It made me go listen to more Ice Cube.”
He continued, “Don’t get me wrong — mad n**gas screamed on me […] Ice Cube is one of the dopest, but for Biggie, maybe it’s more impact because I’m from New York. That’s what you gotta remember.”
He added, “Don’t get me wrong, N.W.A.—they started the Raiders hats, the black look. They had they look for LA, but n**ga was Versace, Coogi—had n**gas wearing Coogi. N**ga was just that n**ga. Smoking that good weed. He was the first fat n**ga besides Heavy D to be super cool.”
