Angela Bassett Wins First Emmy Award After 9 Nominations: ‘Feels Really Good To Hold This In My Hands’

Angela Bassett wins her first Emmy for Outstanding Narrator for the National Geographic documentary “Queens.”

The actress expressed gratitude to the team behind the show and highlighted the importance of the all-female production team.

Bassett, who took a break from her role on “9-1-1” to work on the documentary, was touched by the story of female matriarchs in the wild.

She thanked National Geographic, Wildstar Films, and the all-female directors for bringing the incredible docuseries to life. Bassett shared her excitement on Instagram, calling it her very first Emmy and expressing gratitude for the recognition. “It feels really good to hold this (Emmy award) in my hands,” Bassett wrote on social media.
