André 3000 initially didn’t feel inclined to rap on the track “So Fresh So Clean” from Outkast’s Stankonia album.

Sleepy Brown, a producer and vocalist on the track, revealed that André’s initial reaction to the song was lukewarm, but bassist Preston Crump’s bassline changed his mind.

Big Boi immediately wrote his verse to the beat of “So Fresh So Clean” and was enthusiastic about the track from the start.

André 3000’s iconic line in the song “The Coolest Motherfunkers on the Planet” was inspired by Preston Crump’s bassline and helped him get excited about the track.
