Recently, Eve revealed what Jay-Z told her at the beginning of her rap career in her new memoir, Who’s That Girl.

Jay called Eve ahead of the release of Let There Be Eve…Ruff Ryders’ First Lady, trying to warn her to keep her expectations low because women in rap don’t sell well.

She used that as fuel and motivation to prove the men in hip-hop wrong, and she never let anyone’s expectations dictate her success.
