![]() JADA COOPER Jada Cooper was my daughter ‘s first “transitioning teacher”. When the special needs teacher was looking to place her in a regular classroom setting, Jada accepted the challenge many said ‘no’. Mrs. Cooper told us she would not get any special treatment. Mrs. Cooper pushed my child to be the best she could be. She knew she could speak, so she made her talk and not use pointing as a way to communicate, how to write and to maintain control. This was only the first grade and at the end of the year she was concerned and said she can be promoted to the second grade, but ‘I would really like to spend another year with her.’ Jada’s punishment was simple for my child when she misbehaved she told her she would have to work in the special needs class because she knew how much she loved being in her class learning and hanging on to every word she said. (My child) mimicked her speech, her walk and the way she taught in the classroom. (Jada) gave all of her students the same treatment – she pushed them in the first grade. She allowed them to be creative and unique. My child will soon enter high school and Mrs. Cooper contacts us every year to ask ‘how is school, are you putting forth your best effort and continue to soar always knew you would.’ I know if she is concerned about my child, she is also keeping in contact with countless others who she saw with challenges at an early age. She’s warm, and friendly. She’s the epitome of my first grade teacher memory. She teaches from the heart. She truly is phenomenal. |
